Do you know a religious sister? Most likely, someone in your family has been taught or cared for by a sister at some time in their life.
Religious sisters work in all areas of social and spiritual aid - teaching children in schools, assisting in parishes, caring for the elderly in nursing homes, nurturing souls at retreat centers - sisters accompany God’s people.
This year, the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious is celebrating its 25th anniversary; it is a time to thank God for the good He has done through sisters across the country.
Since our founding 25 years ago, we have seen long-standing religious communities through growth and renewal. We have seen new communities rise to the needs of the Church in our day. These sisters serve the Church today in a variety of ways, as educators, health care professionals, catechists, and caretakers of the homeless and elderly, to name a few. They presently serve in at least 137 dioceses throughout the United States.
CMSWR was founded in 1992 as a council of major superiors who embraced a shared commitment to consecrated life as set forth by Vatican II. Our commitment is rooted in a love for Christ and His Church as well as a dedication to encourage vocations and support women religious across the United States.
Over these 25 years, CMSWR has provided major superiors with the tools and resources they need to better serve their communities and in turn, serve the people of God.
Please help us further our mission of advancing the vitality of religious life with your financial support.
