The Eucharist: Inexhaustible Fount of the Consecrated Life

Welcome! This year’s Esposas de Cristo, Hijas de la Iglesia course invites sisters to grow deeper into the mystery of the consecrated life which is, without a doubt, a magnificent preparation for the fruitful, active, and conscious participation in the Holy Mass. The foundation of this, ultimately, is the real identity, the total, all-encompassing identification of the consecrated soul, by her mystical betrothal, with the Divine Spouse who offers himself on the altar not without us, his members. In itself, the consecrated life is a holocaust of ourselves which derives all its value from union with the Divine Victim.
In order to more deeply “internalize” in our hearts how important our participation in the Holy Mass as religious must be, we will study selected themes from Vita Consecrata, the Apostolic Exhortation of Saint John Paul II, which we consider as fundamental for the consecrated life. In order to highlight the distinct aspects of the religious life which are taught in Vita Consecrata, and which religious should bring to the Mass, we have divided these aspects into four parts: The Most Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, The Church, and The Virgin Mary.
This course will study the Doctrine of the Church concerning each of these four themes, their development and application in the document Vita Consecrata (with the help of various commentators and other Magisterial Documents), and finally will study each theme in light of the Holy Mass, offering a practical “Examination of Religious Life” based on Vita Consecrata.
The course is open to all Spanish-speaking sisters.

Lodging: Lodging will be at the Casa Maria Convent & Retreat House, 3721 Belmont Road, Irondale, Alabama. Lodging and all meals are included in the registration cost.
Travel: If traveling by air, please use the Birmingham Airport (BHM). Participants should arrive on Monday July 28 no later than 4 p.m. We will have a shuttle bus to pick sisters up from the airport at 4 p.m.
Departures will be on Tuesday, August 5. Please arrange your flight no earlier than 2 p.m. Shuttle service will be provided to the airport.
