This year for Giving Tuesday, we kindly ask that you consider supporting CMSWR’s house of studies in Rome, the Domus Sanctae Mariae Guadalupe.
Nearly 25 years ago, CMSWR established a house of studies in Rome in response to Pope Saint John Paul II’s desire that religious sisters study in Rome, at the heart of the Church. Pope Saint John Paul II blessed our efforts, giving a chalice to the Domus chapel for its dedication and meeting with CMSWR leadership.
In Rome, our sisters experience the Church in a more profound and dynamic way. They marvel at the beauty of the basilicas and walk in the footsteps of saints. By sharing these experiences with sisters from different communities, sisters studying at the Domus have a greater appreciation for the diversity of charisms in the Church as well as their own particular community and charism. The friendships formed at the Domus often last for the rest of the sisters’ lives, promoting unity among religious communities.
Strengthening women’s religious life is fundamental for renewing the Church and evangelizing our culture. We offer various programs tailored to meet the needs of our member communities. Each course, whether it’s philosophy, theology, canon law, or human formation, has the ultimate goal of strengthening religious life as it addresses the various issues of today’s culture. As a result, sisters become stronger servants to the Church and their communities.
This year, we are launching the Domus Winter Program. The Domus Winter Program is a pilgrimage for religious sisters that takes them to the Holy Land and Italy. This pilgrimage promises to be life-changing. What a gift to be in Bethlehem for the great solemnity of Christmas. Next, sisters will travel to Italy, spending most of the time in Rome with a day trip scheduled for Assisi. It will be a particular blessing for our Franciscan sisters to be in Assisi during the holidays to experience where Saint Francis staged the first living Nativity scene.
Since its founding in 1999, over 100 sisters have studied at the Domus. Many of these sisters have become leaders in the Church and their communities. These sisters are shaping the future of religious life in America and around the world.
To continue our mission of educating sisters in the heart of the Church, we kindly ask for your support.
