Founded in 1885 in Germany, the Missionary Benedictine Sisters number 1200+ sisters in the USA and in 15 countries worldwide. The Missionary Benedictine way is seeking God with others in a common life. This way of faith is under the guidance of the Scriptures, the Rule of St. Benedict, and a superior. Through our community life we give witness to Christianity genuinely lived.
The Sisters serve where the church is in need; we proclaim the Gospel among the people who do not know Christ, and where Christ is not sufficiently known.
Our missionary service is permeated by the Benedictine spirituality; Eucharist, Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina. Prayer as the foundation of our missionary work makes it fruitful.
Immaculata Monastery, in Norfolk, Nebraska, is the Mother House in the USA. They also have two mission houses, one in Winnebago, NE on the Native Reservation and in Sioux City, IA.
